The Apricot Underground

Should he try to rescue a girl who dumped him via proxy?

Recent university graduate Sasha Zatkov is supposed to be living out her dream in Sofia, Bulgaria. Instead, her adoption agency is in a freefall and she can’t seem to find the ripcord. When a gorgeous Greek man offers her agency an ideal partnership to get around the stricter Bulgarian adoption laws, a problem-free future is within her reach, until her best friend recruits her for an underground mission in Athens, Greece she can’t turn down. Not everyone can be saved, and she doesn’t get to choose the survivors.

A work-study program in Italy sounds like the perfect way to avoid another soul-sucking summer job to Damon Radov. But what starts as an adventure of a lifetime turns into forced labor, and his push for answers leads to an unexpected enemy holding a gun to his head. In hindsight, getting dumped by his girlfriend via proxy becomes the least of his worries.

Engaging, mysterious, and exciting from page 1. I read Gill’s other novel (On Wings of an Avalanche) and really enjoyed that one, but Apricot Underground I loved even more. Once again, she absolutely nails the descriptions of every character and scene so vividly and intentionally. This book is the definition of page turner, I genuinely had trouble putting it down for too long before I picked it up to continue reading! It is a quick, exciting read that I think people from all walks of life would enjoy. I would recommend it to anyone looking for their next literary adventure.

From the first page of Apricot Underground, CD Gill had me on the edge of my seat. This author has opened my eyes to so many real and extremely important life issues in each of her books. In Apricot Underground the characters work together to escape horrible circumstances. CD writes so that she takes you to each scene, part of the action. I have recommended with confidence CD Gill’s books to my friends and family!

This book was moving from the first page and it didn’t sputter out. It’s definitely an edge-of-your-seat read. It’s also a quick read in that you don’t want to put it down until it’s finished. I love the setting and the knowledgeable way the author walks you through towns on the other side of the world so that you feel as if you’ve been there yourself.
This book brings to light the worldwide issue of human trafficking by connecting the heart of the readers to the main characters. The characters are believable and endearing, so much so that I found myself hoping for a sequel.
