She fought for change. He fought for vengeance. Together, they’ll risk it all to save lives of the poverty-stricken in the favelas.
Ronaldo Cevere, haunted by his sister’s murder, turns an international scandal into a shot at redemption by creating a futbol program designed to give outcasts like Daniela Gomes a chance at a better life. But as a former futbol star, his high-profile defiance of the status quo paints a lethal target on his back–and on the girls he’s sworn to protect.
When powerful enemies attempt to shut Ronaldo’s program down, he and Daniela join forces to defend the girls’ chance to escape their life of imprisonment. Two unlikely allies will discover that the greatest threats sometimes come from the most unexpected places. And in a world where bullets speak louder than hope, more innocent blood will run in the streets…and Daniela could be next.
This rags-to-riches, international crime and suspense, sports, and social justice story is packed with family drama, clean romance, and making the world a better place. Fans of Susie May Warren and Robin Patchen will love this international drama.
Once again, I am floored by this author and her ability to bring characters to life with descriptive language and personalization. I couldn’t read it fast enough as each page was better than the last, and that continued throughout the book! I highly recommend this book and all of her books if you seek entertainment that is pure, but captivating and imaginative! Great job!
As in all her books, Gill creates a brilliant mix of well-developed endearing characters, compelling romance, and page turning action, all while shining light on social justice issues throughout the world. Her vivid descriptions paint a picture of a world of destitution and injustice that many choose to ignore. Gill provides a realistic picture of a society still fighting violence, gender inequality, and poverty every day, but within a story infused with hope that faith and love really can conquer the day through ordinary people.
This was, perhaps, my favorite book by this author. The plot sucked me in, and I lost sleep reading late into the night. The setting was intriguing and the character development rather than the plot was central to the story, which I appreciate. I’m eagerly looking forward to future books in this series!
