I would honestly have been disappointed in Game of Thrones location finders if Dunluce Castle was not on the filming location list. Not that I watch the show, but it’s only right that this classic be included. This iconic castle has been around since 1513 (and possibly earlier than that) when it was used as a headquarters for the MacQuillan clan. We arrived 5 minutes after the gates closed for walking around the inside of the castle. Another time…

Sometimes you wish you were around in its glory days to see its true beauty.

Nothing like living on the edge. The MacQuillan’s were serious risk-takers.

In 1639, the family was hosting a party and part of the kitchen fell into the sea, killing several maids. Huge party fail. Soon after, it was deserted. Who can blame them? No one wants to go into their kitchen and wonder if the floor will fall from beneath them, plunging them to their death.

Beautiful setting for a home.

It was quite a full day of visiting Bishop’s Road, Downhill Beach, The Dark Hedges, Cushendun Caves, Ballintoy Harbor, and Dunluce Castle. We stopped at a few other places along the way, so stick around for Ireland’s smallest church, Torr Head, Bonamargy Friary, and Bushmills Inn.
