Guess what–India is on Mars. For the first time in space history, India claims a coveted title–“the first time a maiden voyage to Mars has entered orbit successfully and it is the cheapest,” BBC news says.
What are they looking for? Martian life. Now there’s a well-spent $74 million, but hey– the US has spent way more on the same endeavor so who am I to criticize?
India is the fourth nation to put a satellite into orbit around Mars, but the first from Asia.
Apparently the US and Indian Rovers even tweeted each other. How does that happen?
If you’d like to read more and see pictures, check out the story from BBC. India, huge props for making history. Now the race is on to see who can discover life on Mars first. No pressure, US Rover (you’ve only been there two years already.) Whoever finds martians first gets the right to colonize and spread their ways. Or maybe populate it with those from their country…
Who will it be–the US, Europe, Russia, or India?
Just for fun, leave your thoughts in the comments on who would be the most likely to find life (even if you don’t believe there is life there) and why.
